1 killed, 6 harmed in Bontoc accident

Bontoc, Mt. Province –A 54-year-old woman was killed while six others were harmed after a black Montero Mitsubishi fell into a 60-meter-deep ravine along the National Road in Barangay Bayyo, Bontoc, Mountain Province in the afternoon of April 29, 2022.


The casualty was identified as Charity Vicente, a resident of Silang, Cavite while the injured ones were Hector Araǹa, the driver of said vehicle, and his passengers identified as Caden Lex Lucas, Mylene Luces, Maxie Almerino, Meliza Almerino, and Vergilio Luces.

Based on the initial information reported by MPBC, authorities were able to respond immediately after getting information about the incident from a concerned citizen.


The investigation said the black Montero with a plate number EMA902 came from Cavite and was heading to Sagada when it bumped into the driver’s side door of a Tamaraw FX with a plate number UDF724.

The driver of the Tamaraw FX who was also injured was identified in a report of PIO Bontoc as Banutan Agustin, 66, while his passenger, Jocel Cuting, 36, was also hurt. Both are residents of Viewpoint, Banaue.


Accordingly, the Montero encroached on the line of the Tamaraw FX which caused the collision and eventually fell.

The victims were immediately rushed to the hospital, but the woman did not make it and was declared dead on arrival.


The body was later brought to Saint Peter’s Memorial Service in Baguio City.
