143 murder cases filed against Communist Terrorist Groups in Cordillera since 2019


Tabuk City, Kalinga – Murder has been monitored as one of the top cases filed against members of the Communist Terrorist Groups in the Cordillera within the past 3 years.


The Legal Cooperation Cluster of the Cordillera Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict disclosed there are a total of 143 murder cases filed against rebels in the region since 2019.

Of the figure, thirty were charged in Kalinga; 30 in Abra; 5 in Apayao; 8 in Benguet; 23 in Ifugao; and 47 were filed in Mountain Province.


It was also disclosed that 99 of the cases are on trial, 4 are on preliminary investigation, and 40 have warrants of arrest issued.


Meantime, some guerilla fronts have also been dismantled and weakened with the implementation of the Whole of Nation Approach of the government against insurgency. These include Kilusang Larangang Gerilya (KLG) Ifugao, a guerilla font of the Ilocos Cordillera Regional Committee which has been destroyed, and the KLG Baggas and KLG North Abra which have been weakened.
