Tragic Loss: 19-year-old farmer fatally injured in Benguet following altercation with co-worker

Benguet, Philippines – A young life was cut short following an altercation with his co-worker, escalating from their drinking spree.


The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Dennis Bayoya from Solano, Nueva Vizcaya, was said to have been working alongside the victim in Buguias, according to PCapt. Gilbert Anselmo, head of the Buguias Municipal Police Station, in his interview with the local media.


At around 3 a.m. on February 06, the police office received a distress call from a concerned citizen reporting an incident.


When the police personnel arrived at the scene, they found the victim lying in a pool of blood.

Investigations revealed that an argument ensued between the victim and the suspect during their work in Abatan, Buguias, leading to the tragic stabbing.


According to witnesses, the confrontation between the two was intense, with the suspect delivering the fatal strike to the victim - identified as Santos Bandas from Bakun, Benguet.


Following the incident, the suspect surrendered himself to authorities, acknowledging his involvement in the crime.


He is now facing charges of homicide and is expected to be transferred to Buguias District Jail pending further legal proceedings.


Anselmo assured the public that this incident is an isolated case and does not reflect the overall safety of Buguias municipality.
