2,308 Cordilleran cops deployed to ensure public safety this Holy Week

Updated: Mar 27

Baguio City, Philippines – At least 2,308 Cordilleran police officers have been deployed to strategic locations in various provinces of the region to ensure the safety and security of Cordillerans this Holy Week.

These officers will be stationed in public areas, such as terminals, malls, parks, markets, and areas serving as venues for religious activities.

The officers deployed in terminals will ensure the safety of travelers who are expected to be returning home to their respective provinces this week and in the coming days. In Baguio City, the police force anticipates an influx of tourists, thus the need for police visibility in terminals.

Apart from the deployment plan, an instruction to ensure that security plans are properly implemented has been issued. These security plans include intensified police patrols, the conduct of checkpoints, and the management of traffic.

For provincial directors and city directors, the top official of PNP Cordillera, PBGEN David Peredo, Jr., mandated them to coordinate with local government units and other concerned agencies to ensure the safety of residents in their jurisdictions.

In addition to the police officers, 353 individuals called the Reactionary Standby Support Force and some volunteers will also be positioned in some areas to support the officers in implementing security measures.
