Tabuk City, Kalinga― Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources-Kalinga through Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program of the Department of Agriculture awards PhP750,000 worth of 4 units of fish cages to Burubor Bulo 4H Club and Tanggal Small Water Impounding (SWIP) of Barangay Bulo, Tabuk City in a bid to increase fish production in the area.

Recipient-beneficiaries shall receive 3,000 fingerlings pieces of fingerlings per unit, 29 bags of feed each unit, net cage materials and bamboos.

Said recipients were part of the 2020 budget program, but the implementation was delayed due to the restrictions of the ongoing battle with the pandemic.

As for 2020, a total of 15 units of fish cages were allotted for more than 4 recipient-beneficiaries of which some were already distributed, while others are yet to be delivered to different organizations in the province.

Recipients of the 7 unit fish cages were given to associations in Barangay Wagud in Pinukpuk, Barangay Tanglag in Lubuagan, and Barangay Lacnog, Tabuk City.

The agency is yet to disperse the remaining 4 units.

Meantime, awarding of the fingerlings is expected to be delivered on the 3rd week of the month once the ideal size of the fingerlings is ready for releasing in the established fish cages.

SAAD is a locally-funded program of the Department of Agriculture (DA) intended to help alleviate poverty among the marginalized sectors on agriculture and fishery.
