Over 1.7m agricultural aid given to Kalinga ELCAC barangays

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Sixteen barangays in Kalinga Province under the End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) list in 5 municipalities are to receive agricultural supplies from the Office of the Provincial Agricultural Services this month, January 14,2021 for three areas and for the second batch, the date of distribution is yet to be scheduled.


According to Provincial Agriculturist Engr. Domingo Bakilan, this shall be another help to the barangays, but he is hoping that the impact will be increased through additional aid of other agencies.

“Nu agited met ti dadduma pay nga agencies… ta adda met projects and programs under them, if they include these barangays as beneficiaries, the impact on development is going to be more,” said Bakilan.


In an interview, he said the success of the programs apart from the push of the government and the positive response of the recipients is the concerted efforts of more agencies working together to develop or contribute to the progress of a certain barangay.


Bakilan said he is going to meet and talk with line agencies in the province soon to see possibilities to request for working together in aiding barangays which need more assistance to ensure change in the area.

First batch to receive the agricultural aid includes the beneficiaries in the Municipality of Pinukpuk, Pasil and Lubuagan and recipients. Tabuk City and Balbalan are included in the second batch to receive the same aid.


The 16 barangays which are to receive the 1,764, 262 worth of subsidy include Barangays Mabaca, Poswoy, Ab-abaan, Gawaan and Balantoy in Balbalan, Barangays Tanglag, Lower, Upper and Western Uma in Lubugan, Barangay Guinaang in Pasil, Barangays Limos, Wagud, Ba-ay, Ammacian and Apatan in Pinukpuk and Barangay Dupag in the City of Tabuk.


Supplies to be given are 156 bags OPV white corn seeds, 590 bags of Urea, 468 bags of Ammonium Phosphate, 156 bags of Muriate of Potash, 156 bags of insecticide, 10 kg of mungbean and 10 kg of cowpea. For Pasil Municipality, they are only to get the seeds in consonance with their ordinance which they are only allowed to use organic materials in farming.
