Cagayan, Philippines – Two men face criminal charges after allegedly robbing a man who invited them for a drink as a bargain so he would buy the fish the two were selling.

The two men, identified only as alias Chris and Lito, were arrested this August 26 and 27 in Lasam, Cagayan, after a complaint was lodged against them, accusing them of forcibly taking the P147,500 cash of a man in Zone 7, Barangay IBJ, Lasam, last July 1, 2020.

In a report by the Cagayan Police Provincial Office, the victim told the police that he invited Cris and Lito to drink with him when the two went to his residence to sell fish.

The two suspects agreed but that the victim must buy their products for P5,000.

The buyer agreed.

In the middle of their drinking session, Chris asked for another P2,000 in order to continue drinking with the victim until afternoon.

The victim went to get his P150,000 cash and gave Chris the money he was asking while he gave P500 to Lito. After that, the victim left his money on top of the washing machine and continued drinking with the suspects until he got drunk.

Later on, Chris suddenly pointed a kitchen knife against the victim while Lito was putting the P147,500 money in a sling bag.

The victim further disclosed to the police that, due to intoxication, he fell asleep and didn’t know what happened next.

Through arrest warrant, Chris was nabbed on August 26, and Lito was arrested the following day.

The two have a recommended bail of P80,000 each and they were brought to Lasam Police Station for documentation before they are turned over to the court.
