22-yr.-old student killed in tour bus-motorcycle accident in Baguio

Baguio City, Philippines - The life of a young student who was full of dreams was cut short following a tragic vehicular accident he met in Baguio City last week. 

 

The victim was identified by the police as Julius Nathaniel Padilla, 22, a resident of Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija.  

 

The accident, which involved a tourist bus that hit the motorcycle that the victim was riding, transpired on May 10 along the road in Crystal Cave, Barangay Bakakeng Central, Baguio City. 

 

In her interview with a local media outlet, Police Major Grace Marron of the Baguio City Police Office said their investigation revealed that the brakes of the bus malfunctioned, causing the 45-year-old driver to hit an electric pole and Padilla's motorcycle.  


The impact of the crash caused injuries to the 12 passengers of the bus and Padilla. 

 

Despite undergoing surgery on May 11, the young man did not survive the serious injuries he sustained from the accident and died on May 13. Fortunately, the other injured individuals overcame their ordeal and are now in stable condition.  

 

At present, the driver of the tourist bus is under police custody. He will be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property if the matter is not be settled amicably.
