Kalinga OFW who died in Poland finally returns home

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The remains of an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) from Kalinga who passed away while working in Poland have finally been brought home following a successful repatriation effort facilitated by government agencies assisting migrant workers.

In a report posted on its Facebook page on Monday, June 8, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration–Cordillera (OWWA-CAR) said the OFW's remains arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) last week.

Personnel from OWWA, in coordination with the Repatriation Assistance Division (RAD), facilitated the verification of documents and the necessary clearance procedures before the release of the remains.

After airport processing, the body was transported to Tabuk City, where it was turned over to the bereaved family for funeral arrangements.

OWWA did not disclose the identity of the deceased to protect the privacy of the grieving family. The agency also did not indicate the cause of death but confirmed that the OFW died while working in Poland.

Aside from repatriation assistance, OWWA provided guidance to the family regarding the programs, benefits, and services available to qualified dependents of OFWs.

The agency likewise extended its sympathies to the family and reaffirmed its commitment to assisting overseas Filipino workers and their loved ones during times of crisis and loss.

“OWWA-CAR extends its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased and remains steadfast in its mandate to safeguard the welfare and well-being of OFWs and their loved ones,” the agency said.
