26-yr.-old driver in Isabela killed after refusing to drink alcohol

Cauayan City, Isabela – A man’s refusal to drink liquor with someone who is already under the influence of alcohol became the reason for his death.

This happened to a 26-year-old driver identified by authorities as Jaymar Babaran, a resident of Duminit, Cauayan.

While Babaran was having a drinking spree with his in-laws in San Pablo, Cauayan, the suspect named by police as Rafael Rumbaoa, 41, a resident of said area, came to them and offered them a drink.

Accordingly, Rumbaoa was already intoxicated at that time. The victim’s camp refused the suspect’s offer.

Hours later, Rumbaoa returned with a folded knife and suddenly stabbed Babaran several times. The victim managed to run but the suspect still caught him up.

The victim was rushed to a hospital in the city but he was declared dead on arrival.

Rumbaoa, meantime, was immediately arrested by the Cauayan City Police while a knife used in the crime was recovered from him.

A murder case is being prepared to be filed against the suspect who is currently detained at the Cauayan Police Station.
