27-year-old man drowns during outing in Gonzaga, Cagayan

Gonzaga, Cagayan – A 27-year-old man drowned on Saturday, December 3, during an outing at the Sasa Beach in Gonzaga, Cagayan.


Search operation for the retrieval of his body is being conducted at present, according to Gonzaga police.


The man identified as James Soliven from Taligan, Gattaran, and his co-workers were at the beach for a celebration on said date when the drowning incident happened.


After a drinking spree with his workmates, they decided to swim but after a while, one of his companions noticed that Soliven was being carried away by the sea’s strong waves.

Though they tried to help the victim, his companions were not able to save the victim from the unfortunate incident.


They reported the incident to the police who immediately responded and launched a search and rescue operation.


The rescue team has also notified neighboring towns about the incident for them to relay information if they happen to see the young man’s body in their areas of responsibility.


His family is also asking the public to contact them through these numbers – 09531136764 (aunt), 09165177702(PNP Gattaran), and 09752529168 (cousin’s number) in case they will catch sight of the victim’s body.
