Rizal, Kalinga – Two senior citizens and a 42-year-old man were injured after a collision between a tricycle and a car at 12:20 AM today, November 3, along the Isabela – Tuguegarao National Road in Barangay Romualdez, Rizal.
The victims were identified by Rizal police as Freddie Agustin, 42; Restituta Domingo, 64; and Maynarda Agustin, 65. All are residents of Romualdez, Rizal.
Based on the investigation of the Rizal Police Station, Freddie was driving their tricycle with Domingo, Maynarda, and two others as passengers. The said vehicle came from Sta. Maria, Isabela and was on their way home to Romualdez when the road crash happened.
An investigation said the tricycle signaled to turn left and was about to enter a corner when a Hyundai Elantra coming from the opposite lane and heading towards Tuguegarao City accidentally hit the tricycle.
The tricycle was dragged about 7 meters away from the point of impact.
This resulted in the injuries of Freddie, Domingo, and Maynarda. The two were rushed to the hospital for treatment. The two other passengers of the tricycle were fortunately unhurt.
The driver of the car, who was identified as a certain John Rojado, 27, with his passenger, was likewise unharmed.
Both the car and the tricycle sustained damages because of the impact.
