3 men arrested for stealing carabaos in Cagayan

Cagayan, Philippines – Three men were caught stealing carabaos and dragging them from their pastureland in Barangay Nassiping, Gattaran Sunday night, November 27, 2022.


The Cagayan Police Provincial Office reported that the authorities in the province have arrested three individuals identified as Alyas Noli, 58, carpenter; Rogie, 43, laborer; and Jon, 32.


These three are said to be residents of Barangay San Vicente, Gattaran.


According to the police, the owner of the said livestock claimed that he was at the pastureland when he caught these three men dragging four of his carabaos at around 10:15 p.m.


He narrated that he tried stopping them, but the suspects were armed with ‘bolo’.

The owner then went to seek help from their barangay officials, who immediately responded to the area. This resulted in the apprehension of the three suspects and the recovery of the stolen livestock.


The three were brought to the Barangay Hall, and they were turned over to the responding personnel from the Philippine National Police - Gattaran.


In the investigation conducted by the police, it is believed that the three suspects were ordered by Alyas Asyong from Barangay San Vicente to steal the carabaos in exchange for money.


The three suspects have been charged with violation of Presidential Decree 533 or the Anti-Cattle Rustling Law of 1974.
