Tabuk City, Kalinga ̶ Tabuk City Vice-mayor’s Office reported that about 30 families affected by the Road Right of Way clearing were given a piece of lot this year for them to construct their house and not go back to being an illegal settler.

When VMO Press Relations Officer Teddy Gullay was asked why only 30 families, he said the lot was not a government property but rather a donation by City Vice Mayor Bernard Glenn Dao-as.

The lot given by Vice-Mayor Dao-as is in Barangay San Juan and was provided to the families who suffered from the road clearing whose houses built along the road right of way were demolished in 2019 and 2020.

The 2,000 square meter-lot benefited 30 families from Appas, San Juan, Magsaysay, and Laya.

It could be recalled that there were families who asked help from the local government unit in 2019 and 2020.

According to Gullay, Dao-as, knowing he could help in his own way, gave his own lot for free. Additionally, the road going to the said site was likewise paved by the Vice-Mayor and that electrification is being done for the relocation site.

Meantime, the beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the vice mayor for his generosity.

The road clearing in the city has affected hundreds of families and many are still waiting for their promised relocation.
