MALLIG, Isabela — A 33-year-old farmer tagged as Mallig’s No. 1 municipal most wanted person for homicide was arrested by police serving a warrant in Barangay Centro 2, with bail recommended at ₱120,000.

The suspect, identified only as alias Mateo, married and a resident of Mallig, was arrested by personnel of the Mallig Police Station, led by PMAJ Rufo A. Figarola Jr., in coordination with the Regional Mobile Unit 2 (RMU2).

The warrant, dated September 14, 2026, was issued in connection with the homicide case and carried a recommended bail of ₱120,000, according to the Isabela Police Provincial Office.

The arrest comes amid other recent operations against wanted persons linked to serious crimes in Isabela.

In a separate case last September, authorities arrested a suspect in a 1989 quadruple murder in Santo Tomas, Isabela, after tracking him to Upi, Maguindanao del Norte. The suspect had allegedly evaded arrest for about 37 years. The murder warrant carried no recommended bail.

Isabela police provincial director PCOL Manuel B. Bringas said successful operations help strengthen public trust in law enforcement, emphasizing the importance of serving the community with dedication and accountability.

The Mallig operation forms part of the Philippine National Police’s continuing efforts to locate wanted individuals and enforce court-issued warrants.
