TABUK CITY, Kalinga — Former Mayor Sacrament Gumilab has helped facilitate ₱5 million in financial assistance for 1,666 residents of three barangays in Tabuk City through a partnership with the Office of Senator Raffy Tulfo.

The beneficiaries from Barangays Bado Dangwa, Malin-awa, and Dilag are receiving ₱3,000 each under the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.

The distribution began on October 14 at the Kalinga State University-Bulanao Campus for beneficiaries from Bado Dangwa and Malin-awa. The distribution for Dilag was scheduled for October 15.

DSWD personnel told Guru Press Cordillera on October 14 that the assistance was initiated by Gumilab through his partnership with Tulfo, with the request coursed through the DSWD Central Office for implementation in Kalinga.

Gumilab, who continues to assist fellow iKalingas despite no longer holding public office, said he hoped the financial aid would remind beneficiaries that there are people who care about their welfare, particularly during difficult times.

“Babaen daytoy nga assistance ket sapay koma ta marikna yo nga adda magipatpateg kanyayo. Agyamanak met ken Senator Raffy Tulfo ken ti DSWD iti tulong ken suporta da tapno maidanon daytoy nga tulong kadagiti kakailyan tayo ditoy Kalinga, nangruna kadagiti agkasapulan iti pinansyal nga suporta,” Gumilab said.

He thanked Tulfo and the DSWD for helping bring the assistance to residents in need.

The AICS program provides temporary financial assistance to qualified individuals and families experiencing crises. Depending on their circumstances, beneficiaries may use the aid to help cover essential expenses such as food, transportation, medical needs, and other urgent costs.

For the 1,666 beneficiaries, the assistance offers financial support as they deal with immediate needs and difficult circumstances.
