Balbalan, Kalinga – Four villages in this town were recently awarded with four projects amounting to P4, 400,000 from the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) through the 50th Infantry Battalion.

Reports from the Balbalan LGU states that among the projects to be implemented include the two units elementary classrooms at Barangay Maling amounting to P1, 400, 000, a footbridge in Barangay Poswoy worth P1, 000,000, and the Waterworks Systems of Barangay Dao-angan and Poswoy worth P2, 000,000.

Engr. Sonia Duggoy, Municipal Planning and Development Officer, announced this Monday, March 22, 2021, that a cheque amounting to P3, 500, 000 was initially given to the LGU while the remaining amount will be released upon the submission of their completion of work accomplishment reports.

Duggoy clarified that said projects are not part of those intended for the End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) recipient barangays, noting that Poswoy is not included in the areas declared by the government as communist-influenced barangays.

She further related that an officer from the 50th IB of the Philippine Army visited her office sometime in October 2020 and ask her to prepare for documents required by OPAPP for the release of funding for aforementioned projects.

The identification of said projects, she revealed, is a product of a consultation meeting by the Philippine Army and residents of the three benefiting communities during visitations conducted by the Philippine Army.

Public bidding for said projects, Duggoy said, is set to be conducted prior to its implementation.
