Man hacked in alleged love triangle in Cagayan

Cagayan, Philippines – A heated argument due to an alleged love triangle resulted to the commission of frustrated homicide in Barangay Marzan, Sanchez Mira on Monday night, March 22.

Cagayan Police Provincial Office reported that the victim identified as Medard Dela Cruz, 32, was drunk from a wake when he went to the house of the suspect, Andres Liban, 30, where he allegedly provoked the latter.

This resulted to a heated argument that made Liban grab a bolo and hacked Dela Cruz on the head and his right hand. Dela Cruz was able to run away to ask for help from individuals who immediately called the attention of the police.

The responding personnel then rushed the victim to the hospital for medical attention.

Authorities were able to arrest the suspect and confiscate his weapon. Initial investigation revealed that the incident was caused by a love triangle issue.
