4 marijuana runners in Kalinga captured by Lubuagan Police

Lubuagan, Kalinga – Four individuals who attempted to evade police checkpoints were found to be ferrying P5 million worth of marijuana on Thursday, February 22.

 

The individuals, whose identities were withheld, were aboard a Hyundai Stargazer SUV bearing the conduction sticker K2 X501 on the aforementioned day.

 

As they approached the police checkpoint at Sitio Dinakan, Dangoy, Lubuagan, authorities noticed their driver speeding.

 

Efforts to halt the vehicle were met with resistance as the driver accelerated, attempting to flee. In the process, their vehicle collided with the checkpoint signage, compelling them to come to a stop.

 

The driver was arrested for resistance and disobedience to a person in authority. Prior to the arrest, the driver was informed of his constitutional rights.

 

Authorities conducted a search of both the suspect and the vehicle, during which they discovered marijuana bricks in their possession. The search was conducted in the presence of witnesses.

 

The marijuana bricks were found inside boxes, a backpack, and a traveling bag placed on the car’s backseat.

 

According to the Kalinga police, the marijuana bricks totaled 42 pieces, weighing approximately 42,000 grams, with a market value of P5,040,000.

 

In addition to the contraband, authorities seized the vehicle, a key, a temporary driver's license, a blue Hawk backpack, a black Nike travel bag, and four boxes from the suspects.

 

The pieces of evidence were transported to the Lubuagan Municipal Police Station for documentation and the filing of appropriate charges.
