5 NPAs killed in Cagayan given proper burial

Cagayan, Philippines – Remains of five members of the New People’s Army who died during the combat operation in Sta. Teresita, Cagayan, were given a proper and decent burial this September 24.

5th Infantry Division Spokesperson, Major Jekyll Julian Dulawan, told Cagayan Provincial Information Office that the bodies of ‘Ka Titan’, ‘Ka Dyosa’, ‘Ka Marlon’, and two others were buried in a public cemetery in Sta. Teresita after they were given a burial mass.

Dulawan said they need to bury the bodies of the slain rebels because it has been days but nobody has claimed them yet. However, should a family appear and claim them, the bodies could still be excavated.

The bodies of the 5 rebels who are members of the East Front Komiteng Probinsiya Cagayan were found in a mountainous area in Barangay Dungeg, Sta. Teresita on September 22, 2021.

It could be recalled that through various information about extortion in Buguey, Sta Teresita, Sta Ana, and Lal-lo, the hideout of the East Front Komiteng Probinsiya Cagayan was discovered. This hideout was said to be also a place where the said group create bombs.

After confirmation, the military launched an operation against the group on September 20.
