56-yr- old rider in Baguio dies after garbage truck hit his motorcycle

Baguio City, Philipines - A motorcycle rider was killed after his motorcycle was hit by a garbage truck in Baguio City on Tuesday morning, January 14, 2025.

 

The victim was identified by the police as Armando Layao, 56, a resident of Purok 6, Loakan Liwanag, Baguio City.

 

According to the police report obtained by DZWT 540 AM - RadyoTotoo, the tragic accident happened at around 8:20 a.m. that day along the Kennon Road.

The garbage truck driver, Cesar Bulhayon Desierto, recounted to police that he was maneuvering the truck from the inner lane towards the outer lane of the road when he accidentally hit Layao’s motorcycle.

 

As a result of the crash, Layao sustained severe injuries to various parts of his body. He was rushed to the hospital by the members of the Baguio City Emergency and Medical Service (BCMES) but was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician.

 

Meanwhile, Desierto is now in police custody and will be charged with homicide if the matter will not be settled amicably.
