6 Kalinga entrepreneurs top DTI-CAR’s ‘Kapatid Mentor Me’ online program

Tabuk City, Kalinga - Six yKalinga entrepreneurs who graduated from the ‘Kapatid Mentor Me Money Market Encounter’ (KMME-MME) online program of Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) topped in Business Improvement Plan (BIP) Presentation in regional and provincial categories.


KMME-MME is a 10-module mentorship program that optimizes weekly online interactions between the mentors and the mentees with the key goal of boosting the entrepreneurial capacity through improved access to Mentorship, Money, and Market.


The program is in partnership with Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship (PCE)-Go Negosyo.


Certificates of Recognition were initially announced during the Regional Virtual Graduation on June 16 and were officially handed to the mentees at the Provincial Graduation Ceremony held at Akami Hall, Davidson Hotel, Tabuk City on June 22, 2021.

Graduates and Awards


Out of 53 mentee-graduates in Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Kalinga's Sunshine Ragsac of Ragsac Recreation and Picnic Ground ranked first in BIP presentation both in regional and provincial category while Shaina Diane Lavarez placed second in regional and provincial category.


Meanwhile, Precious Athena Tumbali of Athena’s Food Product placed fourth in the regional and third in provincial categories; Nancy Sibayan of Kalinga Tribal Creations placed fifth in the regional; Imee Ekid of Ashspens AEB Furniture Shop ranked eighth in the regional; and Rachelle Garcia of Challenge Fashion Accessories Shop placed 18th in the regional.


According to the DTI-Kalinga Secretariat, the six mentees are the first batch of KMME-MME Online program from the province.

Screening process


By the time DTI -Kalinga announced the opening of the program, the interested mentees showed willingness by submitting requirements. The office then filtered the applicants based on qualifications set by the program.


The mentees meet in a certain venue and there, they attend the online program.

Graduates expressed their gratitude to the agencies as they were able to learn a lot from the program since they started in March.


The Secretariat said the mentors were selected by the PCE who are also business owners and are experts in the field of a particular business.


Batch 2 Mentee Basic Qualification:


DTI-Kalinga invites interested entrepreneurs for the second batch that will be launched in July. There will be 13 slots to be allotted for Kalinga Province. Qualifications are as follows:

-belong to youth category (18 to 30 years old)

-must be a Filipino and resident of the Philippines

-must be the owner or co-owner of and/or partner of the business

-business is registered (with documentations)

-business is operating for at least one year

-has employees/s and/or manages a team (part-time workers)

-willing to attend and complete sessions on specified schedules

-willing to enter into a contract of commitment

-three references who can vouch for business
