Tanudan, Kalinga – With the recent occurrence of rain in Tanudan since last week, debris and eroded soil blocked many parts of the 6-kilometer provincial road from Tawang, Taloctoc to Anggacan, Mangali, posing risks to motorists and travelers.

To resolve the situation and allow passage of vehicles, Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag utilized his own resources for the road clearing which started on December 4, 2021.

The road is now safer than days ago.

According to Alex Ladwingon, Executive Assistant to Mayor Dagadag, the road was cleared to avoid road accidents and delay of scheduled travel or appointments of their constituents and visitors.

He added that the mayor, through his serbisyo publiko initiative, provided the equipment to be used to remove the debris. Ladwingon said that the mayor also shouldered the labor cost as well as the crude oil.

“Kanayon daytoy serbisyo publiko nga initiatibo ni mayor karkaro tatta a panagtutudo. Bagin ni mayor amin nga equipment ken gasto, free dayta,” he explained.

Ladwingon mentioned that the Tawang, Taloctoc to Anggacan, Mangali road is prone to landslides and that during the rainy season, it has to be regularly cleared.

It could be recalled that last month, the one-kilometer Banagao to Kawi Road was also cleared of debris.
