Tabuk City, Kalinga – Around 767 displaced workers who were hired through the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Provincial Government of Kalinga will start working this Friday, July 30, 2021.

This is after an orientation conducted on Thursday regarding the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program, where they were chosen as beneficiaries.

Of the total number of recipients, 245 came from the 7 municipalities of the province, with 35 individuals selected per municipality while the remaining 524 individuals came from the City of Tabuk.

In an interview, Provincial Human Resource Management Officer Grace Flores said that the beneficiaries will work for social, economic and Agro-forestry community projects, but emphasized that they will deploy most of the TUPAD workers in schools to assist in the Brigada Eskwela Program of the Department of Education.

Flores then assured that the recipients will get their wages amounting to P4,026,750 this August 16, 2021, which is earlier compared to previous TUPAD pay-outs after having finished the required 15 days of work.

It doesn’t mean a recent nga employment mo, awan ti period a naka-indicate basta dati nga adda trabahom tapos naikkat ka because of the pandemic,” the provincial officer explained.

Selection of the beneficiaries

As for the selection, those who qualified had applied for the program through providing a letter of intent to the governor’s office which will be forwarded to the PHRMO/PESO office.

Flores said that their office will then screen the beneficiaries basing on the qualifications set by the program through profiling.

“Nu malpas diyay, i-short list mi suda, dagidiay naka meet iti prescribed QS, i-submit mi ti list idiay office of the Governor, then ag-recommend metten ti governor’s office nu sino dagidiay final a maala,” she added.
