9 Militia ng Bayan members in Cordillera surrender

Tabuk City, Kalinga – A total of nine Militia ng Bayan members voluntarily surrendered to the authorities from April 8 to 14, this year.


Said development was made possible through continuous dialogue and coordination done by the personnel of the Cordillera police in partnership with the concerned local government units, the Philippine National Police – Cordillera reports.


Of these 9 former rebels, 5 are from Benguet, 3 in Abra, and 1 in Mt. Province.

Based on the report, of the 5 surrenderees from Benguet, 4 turned over to the authorities various explosives and grenades which include 4 pieces of hand grenade; a piece of MK2 fragmentation; 3 high explosives; and 3 rifle grenade with bullet trap; and a piece of M26 hand grenade fragmentation.


In Abra, all 3 of them surrendered to the authorities without firearms.



Moreover, in Mt. Province, a surrenderee also turned over to the authorities a piece of Colt MK IV; Cal 45 with markings; a piece of magazine and 5 live ammunitions; a piece of hand grenade, MK2 HE; and a piece of rifle grenade 40MM HE.


Through the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program of the government which provide support to rebels who chose to lay down their arms, these 9 former members of Militia ng Bayan shall be provided with financial assistance.
