Abra shooting incident leaves 1 dead, another hospitalized


Dolores, Abra – A manhunt operation is now being conducted to arrest the suspects in killing a 58-year-old woman and wounding a 60-year-old man in Barangay Mudiit, Dolores.

The victims were shot by unidentified suspects at 7:40 PM on Wednesday, June 29.

The casualty was identified as Benita Turqueza, a resident of Poblacion Dolores. The injured was identified as Danilo Briosos, a partner of Turqueza. Briosos is a resident of Barangay Mudiit.

Initial investigation disclosed that the two were sitting in their balcony when they were shot by unidentified suspects.

After shooting the elderly couple, the suspects fled immediately from the crime scene.


The incident was reported right away by a concerned citizen to Dolores Municipal Police Station.

After being notified, police officers led by PCPT Ricky Bugnay immediately responded. The woman was ferried to the Abra Provincial Hospital but was declared on arrival.

Turqueza was shot in the chest, resulting in her immediate death.

Briosos, on the other hand, was admitted to another hospital in Bangued. Police said he was hit in his left arm.

At the crime scene, police recovered two bullets of an unknown caliber of firearm.
