Allacapan, Cagayan under state of calamity due to massive flooding

Cagayan, Philippines – A state of calamity was raised in Allacapan, Cagayan on Thursday, October 13 after heavy rains brought about by Typhoon “Maymay” caused massive flash floods.


According to Municipal Mayor Harry Florida, the declaration contained in Resolution No. 03 series of 2022 allows the provision of aid to flood-affected individuals in the locality.


In a press release, Cagayan Provincial Information Office reported that 22 barangays in Allacapan were affected by floods.


Said barangays are Binubongan, Bulo, Burot, Cataratan, Capanickian Norte, Capanickian Sur, Centro East, Centro West, Daan Ili, Dagupan, Iringan, Labben, Maluyo, Mapurao, Matucay, Nagattatan, Tamboli, Silagan, Capagaran, Capalutan, and Pacac.


Some 44 families or 147 individuals evacuated to their respective barangay halls as a result of the deluge.


In total, 1,025 families or 3,849 individuals, including their livelihood were heavily affected.
