Apayao Gov. Bulut Jr. nominated to chair RDC-CAR, vows equal treatment to all provinces

Baguio City, Philippines – Apayao Governor Elias Bulut Jr. along with Benguet Governor Melchor Diclas have been nominated for Chairmanship of the Regional Development Council-Cordillera during the council's third quarter meeting held on September 8 in Baguio City.

The endorsement of the nominees for the said position will be submitted by the regional council to the Office of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., which shall make the final decision.

Former La Trinidad Mayor Edna Tabanda and Mary Carmelle Bautista were nominated for co-chairperson.

In his interview with PTV-Cordillera, Bulut Jr. stated that if given the chance to chair the council, he will ensure that all provinces shall be given equal treatment, especially in terms of project implementation.

“There are some reforms na gusto nating mangyari para mabilis ang process. Di ba ang RDC, supposed to be to prepare, layout all the plans na gusto ng mga probinsiya nation, especially sa mga regional offices for the entire region so I wanted na lahat ng governor will be involved. They will chair the cluster or the sector, sectoral ang gusto kong approach, eh. So, they will chair the different sector that they wanted,” the governor added.

Further, Bulut Jr. wants government aid to reach all residents in the region.

“Regional roadmap ang gagawin natin that will cater yung national roads, provincial roads, farm-to-market roads, yung mga ELCAC (End Local Communist Armed Conflict) na funded by the council…May mga problema pa ang mga LGUs sa hospital… especially yung mga devolved na hospitals, hindi na kayang pakainin ng mga LGU,” he stressed.

Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong recommended Bulut Jr. for said position.

Meanwhile, Diclas expressed trust that whoever will be chosen by the President will work for the development of the region.
