Apayao PLGU negotiates with Starlink to provide quality net service to schools

Apayao, Philippines – “We want to invest sa inyo kasi kayo ang future ng probinsiya.”


Apayao Governor Elias Bulut Jr. said this as he announced that they are currently under negotiations with Elon Musk's Starlink for the provision of quality internet service to educational institutions.


Starlink is the world's first and largest satellite constellation using a low Earth orbit to deliver internet thereby, providing high-speed to users across the globe, including those in far-flung areas.

During his visit to Apayao Science High School (ASHS) to give his regards to Emil Peterson Borromeo, a silver medalist in the 2023 Thailand International Mathematical Olympiad (TIMO), the governor disclosed ASHS will be the first to benefit from the undertaking, reported the Provincial Information Office.


"We are committed to providing our students with the best possible education, and reliable internet service is a crucial component of that," Bulut stated.


With faster internet connectivity, learners in the province will have greater access to information and broader exposure to new topics that shall enhance their quality of education, allowing them to be more competitive in various fields.


The provincial government’s partnership with Starlink, according to the governor, is only the beginning of its digital transformation roadmap.
