Balbalan gets excellent ratings in anti-drug, VAWC, and child protection initiatives

Balbalan, Kalinga – Balbalan did not just collect some awards from the Department of the Interior and Local Government, they also earned excellent ‘line of 9’ marks in their initiatives against illegal drugs and violence against women and children.

 

The Municipality of Balbalan headed by Mayor Almar Malannag was one of the awardees during the 33rd Local Government Month celebration at the Crown Legacy Hotel in Baguio City on October 28, 2024.

 

At said event, the municipality was awarded six citations which include having achieved a 95% rating or ‘High Functional Performance’ in the 2023 Anti-Drug Abuse Council Performance Audit; 98.00% or ‘High Functionality’ in the 2023 Local Committees on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and their Children Functionality Audit; and 90.63% or ‘Ideal Functionality’ for the 2023 Local Council for the Protection of Children Functionality Audit.

 

Balbalan was also awarded ‘Functional’ after garnering 81.02% in the 2022 Peace and Order Council Performance Audit; ‘High Performing’ or 75.90% mark for the 2023 Peace and Order Council Performance Audit; and ‘High Functional Performance’ or 87.50% for the 2022 Anti- Drug Abuse Council Performance Audit.

 

All of these accolades were personally collected by Mayor Malannag along with Balbalan MLGOO Lucas Ating.

 

Malannag, in an interview, conveyed that these awards manifest their commitment to peace and order. They also show that the different councils are doing their part to keep Balbalan orderly and safe from illegal drugs and violence against women and children.

 

“Uray nu first termer tayo as an LCE iti Balbalan, nakaya tayo nga maala dagitoy nga awards uray barbaru tayo nga mayor. Isu nga dagitoy kakadwa ditoy, amin nga empleyado, permi iti ragsak da, kunada kaya gayam iti Balbalan basta agmaymaysa tayo,” he added.
