Balbalan, Kalinga – The incessant rain compromised the safety of roads in Balbalan on Sunday, July 27, resulting in a road mishap in Balbalasang.

Mayor Almar Malannag shared that he received a call yesterday about a road accident, prompting him to send personnel from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Rural Health Unit, the Balbalan Municipal Police Station, and the Barangay Balbalasang to rescue the victims.

The Mayor recounted that the vehicle, which came from Vigan City, Ilocos Sur was on the way to attend a wake in Tabuk City when the car fell off the side of the road due to the slippery highway.

With the quick response of the Balbalan Police and those who helped in the rescue, Rev. Nick Vaquilar of Ilocos Sur, one of the occupants of the vehicle involved in the accident, expressed appreciation to the LGU, PNP, barangay, and Mayor Malannag. The Reverend underscored the team's swift action and compassion.

“You have truly embodied the spirit of the Good Samaritan and what it means to be public servants. We may not be able to repay your kindness, but we trust that God, who sees all, will bless you abundantly for the help and care you have shown,” he wrote.
