Balbalan, Kalinga – The municipal government of Balbalan strengthened partnership in optimizing the implementation of programs and services for the welfare of Overseas Filipino Workers and their families.
The renewed partnership was formalized through a Memorandum of Agreement signed by Mayor Almar Malannag and Regional Director of Overseas Workers Welfare Administration – Cordillera Luzviminda Tumaliuan.
Other mayors, including Kalinga representative with Gov. James Edduba, also solidified their commitment by signing MOA on Friday, July 21, at Capitol Hills, Bulanao, Tabuk City.
With shared responsibilities as partners, the LGUs and the OWWA in the region are expected to efficiently deliver services to OFWs and their families.
Under the agreement, local chief executives will establish OFW Help Desk with desk officers to be designated that shall look into the concerns of OFWs and families in their respective localities.
In a statement, Mayor Malannag expressed full support to OWWA and its initiatives that uplift the economic status of migrant workers and their families left in the municipality.
“By forging a stronger alliance, both parties endeavor to optimize the implementation of various initiatives that cater to the needs of our modern-day heroes,” OWWA – Baguio meanwhile said.
