Bucay, Abra – A tragic incident happened in the municipality of Bucay, Abra, as a barangay captain dies on his 37th birthday, August 21, due to a motorcycle crash.
The victim, identified as Daroll Azdi Gonzales, Barangay Chairman of South Poblacion, Bucay, reportedly died in a vehicular accident along Barangay Siblong on Sunday morning.
Police investigation stated the victim was riding a motorcycle on his way to Bangued when his motorcycle skidded and got thrown into the rice paddy in the area.
“Nadulas po yung motor niya sir, e na-overshoot po siya, sumama po siya sa gutter, nalaglag po siya sa palayan,” said the Chief of Police of Bucay Municipal Police Station, PLT Willie Maglaya in his interview with ABRA TV.
He was rushed to a local hospital for immediate medication and transferred to a hospital in Vigan but was later declared dead.
According to his father, Councilor Diosdado Gonzales, the victim only sustained mild physical injuries since he was wearing his helmet, but the doctor detected internal bleeding that eventually caused his death.
“Nasakit nga narigat nga panunuten…anya ngarud nu isu ti nakaisigudan ti biyag na, awaten tayo a ta isu met ti kayat ni apo,” expressed the father.
Meanwhile, the authorities are reiterating their call to the public to take extra precautions when driving to avoid such tragic incidents.
