Body of farmer swept away by river in Baggao found after 7 days

Baggao, Cagayan – A cadaver was found Wednesday, December 6, in a river in Baggao, Cagayan.

The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office of Baggao confirmed a body was seen floating in a river along Barangay Barsat West.

It was discovered by a resident in the area, which he reported to barangay officials.

After being notified, MDRRMO Baggao coordinated with the family of Carlito Joaquin, 56, and positively identified the body as that of their family member.

The victim was identified through his shirt since before disappearing, he was then wearing a blue t-shirt.

To recall, the victim headed home riding his carabao after a corn planting in a mountainous area in Sta. Margarita, Cagayan.

His friends believe he crossed with the carabao, but while doing so, he might have been swept by the river current and drowned.

A search operation was launched immediately by MDRRMO Baggao. They even rowed down to the river’s mouth in Appari but failed to find the body.

It was only after six days of search that they were able to locate the victim.
