ROXAS, Isabela — One drives a truck, the other a tricycle, but both ended up in police custody after allegedly getting involved in the illegal drug trade during a buy-bust operation inside a public cemetery in Roxas, Isabela, on October 18.

Police identified the suspects as alias “Marko,” 35, a truck driver, and alias “Jay,” 45, a tricycle driver, both residents of the area.

Operatives of the Roxas Municipal Police Station, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 2, arrested the two men at the Muñoz West Public Cemetery in Barangay Muñoz West.

Authorities seized three heat-sealed plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu, weighing approximately 0.4 grams and valued at P2,720 based on the standard drug price.

One sachet was reportedly the buy-bust item, while one sachet was recovered from each suspect.

Police also recovered buy-bust money, mobile phones, wallets, cash, identification cards, and other personal belongings. A red Honda TMX motorcycle with a yellow sidecar was also seized during the operation.

The suspects were arrested for alleged violations of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Section 5 penalizes the sale, trading, administration, dispensing, delivery, distribution, and transportation of illegal drugs, while Section 11 covers the unlawful possession of dangerous drugs.

Following the operation, the suspects and confiscated evidence were brought to the Roxas MPS for documentation and further legal proceedings.

Isabela Police Provincial Office Director PCOL Manuel B. Bringas said the police would continue conducting intelligence-driven operations in coordination with partner agencies to combat illegal drugs while observing the law and proper procedures.

He also called on the public to cooperate with authorities in maintaining safe and peaceful communities.

The operation forms part of the IPPO's anti-illegal drug campaign under “The BRINGAS Model: Act Fast. Act Smart. Act with Integrity.”
