TINGLAYAN, Kalinga — Residents of Barangay Belong-Manubal received free medical consultations, laboratory tests, medicines and other healthcare services through a community health outreach conducted by the Tinglayan Rural Health Unit (RHU) and the Department of Health (DOH) on October 13.

The activity was conducted under PuroKalusugan, a DOH initiative that brings essential healthcare services directly to communities, particularly those with limited access to medical facilities.

Health personnel provided cholesterol, random blood sugar and uric acid tests, non-communicable disease (NCD) risk assessments, medical consultations, medicine dispensing, visual inspection with acetic acid (VIA) testing for cervical cancer screening, and dental services.

The team also conducted house-to-house physical therapy services to reach residents who needed assistance at home.

Aside from medical services, health workers provided information on nutrition, maternal health, cervical cancer, the proper use of medicines, NCDs, and the prevention and control of waterborne and vector-borne diseases.

The Tinglayan RHU said it would continue bringing preventive, promotive and basic healthcare services closer to residents through the PuroKalusugan program.

Mayor Charles Abay thanked the municipal health personnel for their continued commitment to providing quality healthcare and helping residents access medical services without having to travel far from their communities.

“Pagyamanank dagiti health workers tayo nga kanayon nga sisasagana nga tumulong kadagiti komunidad ditoy Tinglayan. In deed, health is above all the most important ta nu awan dayta, narigat tayo nga makatrabaho ken makaprogreso,” said Abay in an interview.
