Baguio City, Philippines — A bus conductor was killed while several others were injured after a passenger bus crashed into a parked truck along Marcos Highway in the early hours of Tuesday, June 16.

The victim, a resident of Urdaneta City, Pangasinan, was serving as the conductor of the bus involved in the accident.

Based on an initial police report cited by local media outlets, the bus was traveling uphill toward Baguio City when it collided with the rear portion of a six-wheeler truck loaded with fertilizer at around 2:00 a.m. near Kilometer 6 of Marcos Highway.

Authorities said the truck had reportedly been parked on the roadside after experiencing an injection pump malfunction and was undergoing repairs when the collision occurred.

The impact caused significant damage to both vehicles and left several occupants injured.

Among those injured were a passenger of the truck and five occupants of the bus, including the driver and the conductor.

The bus conductor was later declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Authorities have yet to release the identities of those involved as the investigation continues to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
