Cash card distribution in Tabuk suspended due to bank lockdown

Tabuk City, Kalinga –The Department of Social Welfare and Development- Cordillera announced on Monday, September 27, 2021, the cancellation of the Unconditional Cash Transfer cards distribution for 1,409 UCT Listahanan beneficiaries in Tabuk City scheduled on September 28, 29, and 30, 2021.

This is following the temporary closure of Landbank Tabuk City, DSWD’s partner in the releasing of cards as one of its security guards tested positive for the Covid-19 virus.

“We ask our UCT beneficiaries to understand why we need to cancel [the distribution] as this is also for their own protection. While waiting for the new schedule, we ask them to get vaccinated against COVID-19 to ensure their safety and safety of their families,” Brenden Quintos of DSWD-CAR said in an interview.

Although the agency is now working on alternative means to release the cash cards, Quintos said they have yet to set a definite date since they are depending on the availability of Landbank.

“We cannot give a definite date kung kailan pwedeng i-conduct [ang release] because we are depending on the availability of the Landbank since sila ang magre-release nung cash card,” he said.

While waiting, Quintos said, beneficiaries are encouraged to update any valid government ID as they will be using this in receiving the grant from the national government.

At present, pre-validation is ongoing at the Provincial Action Team Office to ascertain the identity of the beneficiaries before giving them their grants.
