Pasil, Kalinga –Barangay Colayo of the Municipality of Pasil retained its drug-free status after being assessed by the Regional Oversight Committee tasked with validating barangays being cleared of illegal drugs.

The said barangay was awarded the drug-free certificate during the 2nd Quarter 2022 Joint Meeting of Municipal Peace and Order Council, Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council, and Municipal Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict on Wednesday, June 8, 2022.

Mayor Alfredo “Chao-ig” Malannag Jr., assisted by Municipal Local Government Operations Officer Helen Lacuesta and Police Lieutenant Anthony Bunoan, received the recognition.

Colayo is the last barangay to receive such award due to delayed submission of required documents.

On December 9, 2021, barangay captains of Ableg, Bagtayan, Balinciagao Norte, Cagaluan, Dalupa, Galdang, Guina-ang (Poblacion), Magsilay, Malucsad, and Pugong got the resolutions declaring their area as drug-free.

Meanwhile, Barangays Balatoc, Balinciagao Sur, and Dangtalan were also declared cleared from drugs earlier.

Though all barangays are already free from drugs, Lacuesta said they are yet to apply for the municipal-wide drug clearance.

Mayor Alfredo “Chao-ig” Malannag Jr., the chairman of MPOC, MADAC and MTF-ELCAC, lauded the efforts and cooperation of the barangay leaders and asked that they maintain their drug-free status. This, he added, is for the protection of the whole locality from heinous crimes.
