COMELEC Kalinga advises registrants for 2022 elections not to wait for the last minute

Updated: Feb 17, 2021

Tabuk City, Kalinga – COMELEC Kalinga advises those who want to vote for 2022 elections to register as soon as possible and not wait for the last minute.

The registration of voters will end on September 30, 2021.

According to Atty. Dexter Barry Cawis, Kalinga Provincial Election Supervisor, there are 2,509 individuals in Kalinga who registered from January to December 2020.

Cawis added that the number is still far from the estimated 4,000 to 5,000 individuals who should register after the 2019 elections. The reason why many are still not registering, he said, is due to the pandemic and the last minute attitude of others.

Of the 2,509; 123 are in Balbalan, 73 in Lubuagan, 44 in Pasil, 556 in Pinukpuk, 197 in Rizal, 60 in Tanudan, 43 in Tinglayan, and 1,413 in Tabuk City.

“We remind the public, particularly the aspiring voters to register as soon as possible to avoid long queues during the final days of registration,” Cawis said.

As of January 18, 2021, there are 134,570 registered voters in Kalinga.

How to register?

The Kalinga Provincial Election Supervisor further said that in order to minimize the time in filling out forms, the registrants can go to https://irehistro.comelec.gov.ph/cef1 and select suitable options for their application and fill out all required fields.

“Follow all instructions provided by the iRehistro and after completing iRehistro, go personally to the Office of the Election Officer – depending on your set appointment, where you are registered or intending to register to personally submit your application form. Further instructions shall be discussed to you by the OEO,” he explained.

Also, applicants are advised to follow the minimum health protocols and to bring their own ballpen.
