Cong. Mangaoang pushes for unity, green recovery towards autonomy

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Congressman Allen Jesse Mangaoang, on the 34th Cordillera Month celebration, calls for unity among cultural communities in the region to finally attain their aspiration for self-governance.

“Panagkaykaysa para iti pannakagun-od ti naunday nga arapa-ap ti autonomiya ti sentro ti selebrasyon tayo tatta. It is very noteworthy that this year’s theme Integrated Green Recovery as One Aspect of Development, is our rallying point in pushing for self-governance,” the Lone District of Kalinga Representative said.

The solon emphasized that economic recovery measures aligned with achieving long-term climate change programs and sustainability could only be achieved through joint efforts of the provinces in the region. The realization of this, he said, is a key to propel the region towards self-determination.

“It is only in the realization of our regional autonomy that we and the rest of the country, shall continue to benefit from the windfalls of our traditional environmental stewardship practices,” he said.

The solon said that Cordillerans are effective custodians of bio-diversity since they possess unique knowledge of the natural world and its cycle, combined with their traditional way of life and cultural practices.

“Itultuloy tayo ngarud ti panangsalwad tayo ti aglawlaw tapno masustenar tayo ti nalami-is, ken naka-ayayo a pagtaengan ken agnamnama tayo ti na-pogreso a masakbayan,” Mangaoang underscored.

As an update, Mangaoang said that the status of the bills filed for the Autonomous Region of the Cordillera is currently being discussed on the Committee on Local Government chaired by Congressman Joel Villanueva.
