Tinglayan, Kalinga – Transportation services of residents of barangays Sumadel I and II will soon be improved with the construction of the multi-million roads connecting the barangays to the national road.

In a press release, the Municipal Information Office relayed that the construction of the road to Sumadel I, measuring 430 meters in length and 6 meters in width, began on March 5, 2022.

The road, according to the office, is worth P4 million funded under the 2022 budget of the local government of Tinglayan, headed by Mayor Atty. Sacrament Gumilab.

Engineer II Denver Alngag recalled that the opening of the road started in 2018, but was discontinued when the fund, which was supposedly for infrastructure projects, was allocated in response to the strike of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, Municipal Engineer Basilio Chulsi Jr. revealed that another P5 million road project going to Sumadel will be implemented after the construction of the 430-meter road.

Chulsi added that the fund was awarded by the provincial government of Kalinga under the administration of Governor Ferdinand Tubban. The fund, he said, was sourced out through the initiative of Gumilab.

Further, the mayor likewise obtained P2.5 million from the Office of Congressman Allen Jesse Mangaoang for the continuation of the road.

“This is the beauty when the mayor, governor and congressman have a harmonious working relation. Big things are possible to achieve,” stated the Municipal Information Office.
