Tabuk City, Kalinga – Councilor Samuel Sumaal encourages the Dallac – Nanong – Minanga Indigenous Cultural Communities to be unwavering in supporting the establishment of a power plant, a development they had wanted since 2008.

“Adu ti op-opisyal ken kakailyan tayo a natnatayen a kayat da kuma a makita daytoy nga agrugi,” Suma-al said.

The councilor, during the blessing of the access road going to the proposed hydropower plant and groundbreaking ceremony of the tramline this September 8 in Dun-ol, Bagumbayan, recalled the sacrifices of the people of DANAMI since 2008 during the time of Punong Barangay Ringor Bucalen up to his term as Punong Barangay in Dupag from 2010-2019.

“Isu nga adu a rigat a nagdalanan daytoy a proyekto ta ammuk nga adu ti sakripisyo tayo nga agkakailyan ditoy,” he said, adding that the development projects were part of their barangay development plan but could not be funded, until the developer made it a reality through the proposed establishment of a hydropower plant.

Despite the long wait, Sumaal said that the people didn’t give up and sacrificed a lot in order to bring developments to their place.

“Ket makita ti balligi ket sapay kuma ken Apo diyos ta itultuloy tayo tapnu ti kasta ket magun-od tayo ken makita dagiti ubbing tayo, karkaru dagituy a lallakay ta nagadu dagiti natnatay a nakitratrabaho kaskada Sir Dominic Cawas, Olen Bayungan diay president tayo ti DANAMI ni Apo Bayubay,” he said.

Sumaal further expressed that many people who wanted to see the start of the hydro power plant have already died without getting to see it, “tatta masapul nga itultuloy tayo ti suporta tayo.”

Meanwhile, the access road going to the proposed hydro power plant connected Sitios Minanga, Sadog, Dupag Proper, and Patok to the national highway. As for the 390-meter-long tramline/aerial ropeway, it could transport load up to 5 tons.
