District Hospital in Kalinga temporarily closed as 14 frontliners found positive

Rizal, Kalinga - The Juan M. Duyan Memorial District Hospital (JMDMDH) in Rizal is now temporarily closed due to the full capacity of COVID-19 beds while 14 of its workers are confirmed positive of COVID-19.


The temporary closure was brought into action effective immediately on Thursday, September 9, 2021, with the permission of the proper authorities as announced in a Facebook post by Chief of Hospital Doctor Rey Aranca.


According to Dr. Aranca, the purpose of the closure is to disinfect the building to prevent further transmission and for contact tracings. The hospital, in the meantime, will still give medical services through the following guidelines:


1. Tele-consultation is in effect through their hotline number: 09774490920

2. Emergency Cases will be accommodated anytime

3. For face-to-face consultation, call the JMDMDH hotline number first, before coming.

The 14 Workers confirmed to be COVID-19 positive based on their RT-PCR with signs and symptoms are four Nurses, three security guards, 2 Phic Clerks, 2 Nursing Attendants, 1 Admin Clerk and 2 Institutional.


Meanwhile, the chief also disclosed that despite strictly following the protocols on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), safety, and protection, 4 more personnel, having signs and symptoms similar to Covid, were also considered to be suspects.


As of September 9, 2021, JMDMDH has 33 covid patients. The restrictions will soon be lifted upon the normalcy of the situation.

The hospital then advised the public to consult through telemedicine the moment they have the early signs and symptoms of COVID-19.


Recently, hospitals of the province such as San Juan General Hospital and Kalinga Provincial Hospital also reached the maximum capacity due to the increase of Covid-19 patients. They have also advised the public to do a consultation first thru their hotline numbers.
