Dog waits as rescuers search for bodies of playmates buried in landslide

Baguio City, Philippines – A dog in the city never left the place where his human playmates were buried in a landslide while they were being searched by authorities.


The house of its friends was buried in a landslide at Dominican Hill-Mirador on October 11 at the height of heavy rains due to Typhoon Maring.


The two girls who were buried, along with an adult male after their house was covered by a landslide, were said to be the dog's playmates. The unfortunate event happened while the family was attempting to evacuate.


The body of the man was found on October 12, while the girls were recovered on October 13 after a 2-day search and retrieval operation.


In some photos posted on Facebook, the dog named Jerwin was seen at the place of the incident and never left despite being soaked, as authorities look for the bodies of his friends.

Jerwin’s owner in shared photos of the pooch stated she is proud of him for staying with the rescuers and the family.


“Napaka the best mo and proud na proud ako sayo, Jerwin! Good job anak ko. Umulan umaraw bumagyo anjan ka ayaw mo umalis, ayaw mong iwan sila.. Thank you. Hindi ka namin iiwan gang dulo, aalagaan ka namin dahil hindi mo iniwan ... mga kalaro mo..” Di A Na captioned.
