Lubuagan, Kalinga-The Local Government Unit of Lubuagan’s Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) informed that the municipality recorded no damage to infrastructure and agriculture even after the onslaught of the recent Typhoon “Maring”.

“From the partner MDRRM Councils, so far there are no reported damages, casualties and incidents during the typhoon,” informed MDRRM Officer Rommel Salbang.

Salbang added that preparedness is a must in the municipality, whether or not a typhoon is weak. With that being said, the council led an active 24-hour monitoring activity through its ‘Operation Listo’ during the typhoon.

According to Salbang, “The LGU was informed of the updates regarding Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal of "Maring" and was able to follow the Operation LISTO disaster preparedness protocols."

Advisories, updates and the continued monitoring and coordinating of the typhoon’s track have also been provided.

Meantime, Mayor Charisma Anne Dickpus lauded the efforts of the MDRRMC Lubuagan for remaining to be alert, not only during the recent typhoon event but also for all other unexpected disasters that may enter the municipality.

“Alerto iti MDRRM tayo. Once nga in-announce ti PAGASA nga adda umay nga bagyo, agmonitor dan a dagus. I-prepare dan dagiti rescue equipments da, dagiti relief goods just in case. Pati evacuation center tayo, automatic a mai-prepare,” Mayor Dickpus said.

While the LGU, she said, cannot be complacent, preparedness is a must to avoid the negative effects of typhoons or calamities.

The mayor said, “Lubuagan is very fortunate ta awan ti nadangran ken napirpirdi a balay kada dalan uray nu signal number 2 tayo ditoy Kalinga. Ngem importante launay talaga nga ag-prepare tayo latta ta ammo tayo met ditoy ayan tayo ket banbantay, agpre-precaution kami latta karkaru ti landslide.”
