Updated: Oct 14, 2022

Tabuk City, Kalinga – To increase tourism by providing comprehensive content about Kalinga province in several Philippine destination platforms in the country, the Provincial Tourism Office of Kalinga is working on geo-tourism branding and mapping of accredited tourism sites.

This is relayed by Provincial Tourism Officer Lorraine Ngao-i on Tuesday, May 31, 2022.

Geotourism as defined by GeoWorld Travel sustains and enhances the identity of a territory, taking into consideration its geology, environment, culture, aesthetics, heritage and the well-being of its residents.

The mapping, on the other hand, is done to provide an online mapping platform for establishments, destinations, attractions, and activities for better product-image association.

Further, the project, according to Ngao-i, also aims at filling in relevant information regarding tourism hubs expected to be read on destination platforms which include Philippine Travel, Wikipedia and Google Maps.

In connection, a video shooting was conducted from May 24-26 in the city of Tabuk and the municipalities of Rizal, Tanudan, Lubuagan and Tinglayan.

Tourism sites visited for the program include Talama View Deck, Chico River Stretch, The Ranch, Lubo Rice Terraces, Rizal Eco-Tourism Center, Rizal and Daguitan Kan Tangkib Eco Village.

Also visited were Awichon Cultural Village, Mabilong Weaving Village, and Maswa Viewpoint in Tinglayan
