Tabuk City, Kalinga─ Kalinga Province has experienced some problems with blood supply which can become serious if there are less and less donors to aid those who are in need.

To help sustain the adequate blood supply amidst the pandemic in the province, Engineers and employees of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DWPH) joined the blood donation drive held at the DPWH Lower Kalinga compound, Bulanao on May 04.

Said bloodletting activity is through the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) Kalinga-Apayao Chapter in partnership with Red Cross-Kalinga.

Engr. Mandel Gup-ay of PICE Kalinga-Apayao Chapter expressed his gratitude to the donors in support to those in need of blood, saying their positive response in addressing the low number donors due to the community quarantine has contributed a lot.

Blood collected by the Kalinga Red Cross from over 21 donors will be stored and preserved in the blood bank of the group for later use which shall ensure the availability of blood supply for their members, family and donors in case of emergency.

With the theme ‘PICE Kalinga-Apayao Chapter Save Lives 2.0’, this is the second time the organization conducted blood donation drive.

Blood donation drive is one of their organization’s activities as part of their civic duty and continued altruism as a response for those in need and the call of solidarity.
