Drug suspect injured after jumping in a ravine during buy-bust operation

Tabuk City, Kalinga – A man subject for buy-bust operation ended up in a hospital and in jail after jumping in a ravine trying to escape from authorities early morning of April 7.


In a police report, operatives conducted said buy-bust operation along the National Highway in Barangay Lucog against the 30-year-old suspect from Loccong, Tinglayan.


During the operation, operatives acting as poseur buyers arrived at the agreed transaction site but then the suspect sensed he was transacting with the police, so he fled and jumped in a ravine leaving his two bags and his motorcycle behind.



A hot pursuit ensued and the operatives later found the suspect lying with injuries along the Chico River. Personnel from the Bureau of Fire and Protection – Kalinga Rescue Team immediately responded and brought the suspect to the Kalinga Provincial Hospital.

Confiscated from said operation include 19 pieces bricks and 4 pieces in tubular form of suspected Marijuana dried leaves and stalks. Said items were estimated to be 23 kilograms with Dangerous Drugs Board value of P2,760,000. The suspect’s motorcycle was as also seized.


After the onsite inventory, the pieces of evidence were brought to Kalinga Police Provincial Office for proper documentation and examination at the Kalinga Crime Laboratory office.
