Tanudan, Kalinga – Another all-weather road construction is in progress in this municipality with the start of the PhP6.6 million concreting of the Sitio Darulog, Barangay Dupligan Municipal Road.

Mayor Jaedicke Dagadag relates that said municipal road connecting the sitios Darulog, Allubaggan, Cogawe, and Banneng was opened during the administration of his father, former Mayor Rhustom Dagadag, Sr., 30 years ago, but remained a dirt road making it difficult for motorists to traverse specially during the rainy season.

In 2019, Mayor Dagadag, from his own pocket, gave more than PhP5 million for the road clearing and widening of the 1.7 kilometer municipal road.

“Haan a madalanan dayta ti lugan ti manu a tawen. Tatta addan ti pondo na a nagapu DILG gapu ta inpapati mi a nang follow-up isunga nabiit a naited dayta a pondo ket nu malpas kaya tun dumalan ti lugan dita,” Dagadag relates.

Under his administration, the local government then worked out to look for funds for the improvement and upgrading of said municipal road. The fund covering initial part of the road was granted from the Local Government Support Fund -Assistance to municipalities for year 2020 under the Department of the Interior and Local Government.

With road improvement as one of his priorities, Mayor Dagadag expressed that said road’s transformation into an all-weather road would eventually provide comfort and ease among commuters from the locality, especially for regular travellers like the students, workers and farmers transporting their products to the market.

“Gapo ta nabayag nga abandoned dayta a kalsada, makitak a talaga kailangan dagiti umili ta marigatan da karkaru dagiti agibyahe ti agricultural products ken estudyante idi nga mapan agiskwela,” he said.
